Lesson 2 - Sardinian Specialities: Salads and light lunchtime dishes, which we subsequently eat and later in the afternoon.
Return for:
Lesson 3 - More Sardinian Specialities: Fish soup, suckling pig, mastering Sardinian pastry.
Dinner: Results of Lesson!
Day four - Wednesday
After an early breakfast we will depart for a day trip to Caloforte Island. Following a mere twenty-minute ferry-crossing, Carloforte will appear at the bow of the boat, recognisable for its nineteenth-century buildings facing the port and the Battellieri and Cavour seaside walkways. Along the quay, there are ferries, rusty fishing boats and big motor boats with their nets still piled up among the fishing tools and lifejackets, yellowed by the sun.
The name Carloforte comes from the famous tuna fisheries. For decades the local fishermen lived thanks to tuna fishing. This activity, in the beginning only a momentary way to survive, became a real industry in which the whole population invested for its future. Nowadays, the tuna fisheries are only a memory, a sort of tribute to themselves, the symbol of a village not more than three hundred years old.
Lunch on the island and a leisurely afternoon with plenty of time to further explore this Ligurian outpost. Return to La Lantana early evening for a light supper—this might be the day to take advantage of the spa facilities on offer before dinner.
Day five - Thursday
Breakfast and departure for visit to the vineyard—Feudi della Medusa for a tour and tasting. Long lunch at the vineyard with a return to the hotel in time for some spa treatments, a walk to the beach or into Pula town for an ice cream, or just a peaceful snooze before dinner!
Day six - Friday
Breakfast and visit to Market for:
Lesson 4 - Tutored tour of the market and time for some personal retail therapy. Return to base for lunch made from our market purchases! A relaxing afternoon at the spa, beach or the golf course should work up an appetite for the evening’s dinner with local musicians to entertain you while you eat!
Day seven - Saturday
Valentina will be available for any last minute culinary questions. Departure for Cagliari Airport. Tears and Farewells!
