Proposed programme at Fattoria Mosè
Day one - Saturday arrival at Fattoria Mosè
Following welcome drinks and snacks, there will be time for settling-in and relaxation prior to cocktails in the courtyard and a dinner of typical Sicilian delicacies prepared for your arrival!
Day two - Sunday
Breakfast on the terrace will be followed by a tour of the estate and our first lesson in the kitchen:
Lesson 1 - Preparations for a Sicilian Sunday Lunch in the Courtyard with a selection of the following: olive cunsati, spaghetti alla siracusana, frittelle di melanzane, cuccia in insalata, caponata, sarde a beccafico, involtini di pesce spada, rianata/sfinciuni, cassata alla siciliana (we make it our way!)
A long siesta! or an optional visit to the beach should prepare the way for the second lesson in the early evening:
Lesson 2 - Preparations for a Light Supper in the Courtyard and yet more regional delights: pepperoni imbottiti, polpette nella foglia di limone, salads, cazzilli/potato fritters, caciu all’argintera/silversmith’ fried cheese, granita di limone, almond pastries accompanied by dessert wine tasting.
Day three - Monday
Following a leisurely breakfast we will depart for a tour of the vineyard and winery including a tasting and lunch! With an optional stop off at the beach for a walk and paddle we will wend our way back to Fattoria Mosè for an unhurried dinner and perhaps a little more wine!
Day four - Tuesday
Sees us back in the kitchen for:
Lesson 3 - Lunch Preparations including: gelato di cocomero, zucchine in agrodolce, polpette di funghi, truscello di messina, pasta con la mollica, riso e melanzane alla palermitana.
A siesta or visit to the beach should prepare us for:
Lesson 4 - Dinner Preparations–yes–more food! Vermicelli al nero, risotto ai pepperoni, involtini con carciofi, insalata, pesche al forno con marsala e amaretti–and yet another good night’s sleep!
Day five - Wednesday
An early breakfast and off to Palermo market for food and gadget shopping. Lunch in Palermo, further sightseeing, perhaps a little retail therapy and ample café dawdling time. Return to Mosè for yet another outstanding dinner!
Day six - Thursday
Breakfast and then:
Lesson 5 - Cooking the market purchases and eating them!
An unhurried siesta and back into the kitchen for our final lesson:
Lesson 6 - Making a Timballo–the most impressive pasta dish ever created!
Following an early dinner in the Courtyard, we will depart for a private guided tour of a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the greatest legacies of ancient Greece - the Valley of The Temples. This parade of well-preserved Doric temples, just outside town, dates back to the fifth century BC and is what remains of the Greek city of Akragas. The temples are spread along a rocky ridge a short way to the south of the medieval town centre, in a designated archaeological park.
Day seven - Friday
Valentina will be available for any last minute culinary questions! Departure from Villa Mosè for Catania airport. Tears and Farewells!
